525k euro fine imposed by Berlin’s DPA

A 525,000 euro fine was imposed to a subsidiary Berlin-based retail group by the

Berlin Commissioner for violating the data protection officer requirements under the

EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).

The application of this fine was due to a conflict of interest on the DPO’S

employment status which violated Article 38(6) of the GDPR.
