A recent report indicates a decline in ransomware payments

According to Bleeping Computer, a study conducted by cybersecurity firm Coveware reveals that only 28% of businesses opted to pay ransomware groups in the initial quarter of 2024. Furthermore, the average ransomware payment has decreased from USD568,705 in 2023 to USD381,980 in 2024.

Coveware noted that certain companies have bolstered their cybersecurity measures and opted against paying ransom due to hackers breaking

assurances regarding not disclosing or reselling stolen data if a ransom is remitted.
