Chat GPT blocked for privacy concerns by the Italian supervisory authority

A temporary ban on Chat GPT was issued by the italian supervisory authority. It was opened an investigation into how OpenAI, the US company behind the chatbot, uses data. The supervisory authority states that no information is provided to the users and to the data subjects and that “there appears to be no legal basis underpinning the massive collection and processing of personal data in order to ‘train’ the algorithms on which the platform relies”. In addition, the italian authority underlines that it “exposes children to receiving responses that are absolutely inappropriate to their age and awareness”.
