Customer Privacy as an Innovation Imperative is proved by Sephora’s 1.2 million dollar fine

California fined Sephora for illegally selling consumers’ personal data using third-party trackers to get discounts and targeted ads. The California Attorney General Rob Bonta commented the following: “Today’s settlement with Sephora makes clear we will not hesitate to enforce the law. It’s time for companies to get the memo: Protect consumer data. Honor their privacy rights. The kid gloves are coming off. My office will not hesitate to protect consumers.”.
