Data Protection Authority in the Czech Republic evaluating the use of facial recognition technology

The Czech Republic's data protection authority, known as Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, is conducting an evaluation of the deployment of facial recognition technology by the local police, as reported by Novinky. The DPA has requested details from the police, including technical documentation and descriptions of the technology employed during a trial period lasting almost a year. Milan Řepka, a spokesperson for UOOU, stated that the police initiated the trial without prior consultation with the DPA.
