IAB Europe issues a reply to the EDPB's stance on the "pay or consent" matter

IAB Europe has released a statement in reaction to the European Data

Protection Board's viewpoint on the legality of pay-or-consent models for obtaining consent to process personal data. Expressing concern, IAB Europe suggests that the opinion introduces legal ambiguity for numerous businesses beyond major online platforms. Moreover, they argue that the EDPB's assumptions about the operation of personalized advertising are too abstract and clash with the principles of data minimization and fairness outlined in the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
