Privacy at Risk: Meta and Artificial Intelligence

Even after the official opt-out period, there’s no guarantee that Meta won’t use your personal data—posts, photos, messages, and even memories—to train its AI systems. Experts warn that the opt-out process is confusing, fragmented across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads, and often leaves users unsure if their refusal applies to all services.

This raises serious concerns about transparency and control over our own information. By agreeing to terms without fully understanding them, users may unknowingly provide data that fuels algorithms generating massive profits for Meta. Even public information shared by others can still be collected and used.

In short, the convenience of social media often comes at the cost of our privacy. Staying informed, questioning defaults, and carefully managing your data are more important than ever in the age of AI.
