Privacy standards in mobile applications lag behind in the digital evolution

Brian Chen, in his article for The New York Times' Tech Fix, analyzes how privacy measures of long-established mobile apps are failing to keep pace with the contemporary digital environment. As an illustration, Chen points to Venmo, a 15-year-old mobile payment app, and suggests that it still operates in a manner where transaction data, readily accessible to the public, has the potential to reveal personal movements or unintentionally disclose connections and relationships.
