UN report’s on threats to global digital privacy and human rights

A report on “The right to privacy in the digital age” was issued by the UN’s Office for the High Commissioner of Human Rights. Three areas were investigated: the role of encryption in protecting human rights, the impacts of digital surveillance of public spaces and spyware abuse by world governments. Urgent steps are required when using spyware “until adequate safeguards to protect human rights are in place”, according to this report.
